Trevel Terms of Service

These Terms are an agreement between you and Trevel Technologies, Inc., a Delaware corporation (“Trevel,” “we,” “us”). They govern your use of the Trevel mobile app, the trevel.app website, and related services (the “Service”). By creating an account, using guest mode, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Plain-language summary (the Terms below control): Trevel is a passport of places you have actually been. Stamp honestly — no spoofing, no fake GPS, no tampering. Be decent to other people. You own your photos; you let us show them the way your settings say. Points, stamps, and badges are for fun and have no cash value. Be safe and legal when you travel; we are a scorekeeper, not a guide. We can change or end the Service, and our liability to you is limited.

1. Who can use Trevel

You must be at least 13 years old (or older if the law where you live requires it) and able to enter into a binding agreement. If you use Trevel on behalf of a company or organization, you confirm you have authority to bind it.

2. Accounts and guest mode

• Guest mode. You may use Trevel without an account. Guest data is stored on your device and in a guest record on our servers. If you sign out or lose your device without creating an account, a guest passport may be unrecoverable. Some features (following, being followed, photos on your profile, leaderboards, reporting) require an account.
• Accounts. You may sign in with Apple, Google, or an email link. Keep your sign-in method secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us at support@trevel.app if you believe your account has been compromised.
• Usernames. Usernames are first-come, first-served, subject to our reserved-name list and rules against impersonation. We may reclaim a username that violates these Terms or the rights of others.
• One person, one passport. Do not create multiple accounts to gain an advantage or evade a block or suspension.

3. Your license to use the app

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Trevel app on devices you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use. We and our licensors own the Service, including its software, design, stamp artwork, names, and logos. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service, except where the law expressly permits it.

4. Stamps, points, and fair play

Trevel’s value depends on stamps being real. You agree that you will not:

• spoof, simulate, inject, or falsify your device’s location (including “mock location” tools, GPS spoofers, modified apps, or virtual devices);
• use a jailbroken or rooted device, emulator, or tampered build to interact with the Service;
• automate, script, or use bots to create stamps or interact with the Service;
• interfere with, probe, or circumvent our anti-cheat, attestation, rate-limiting, or security measures;
• misrepresent places you have been.

Verified vs. self-reported. A verified stamp is created only from a fresh GPS reading on your device at the moment you stamp, checked by our integrity systems. A self-reported stamp (from onboarding, manual entry, or photo import) is your own account of a past visit; it earns reduced points and does not count toward leaderboards, badges, or rarity.

Our discretion. We may decline, delay, mark, adjust, or remove any stamp, points, badge, streak, or rank that we believe was earned improperly, and may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules. Our decisions about the integrity of stamps are final.

No cash value. Points, XP, levels, ranks, stamps, badges, streaks, and any other in-app achievement or virtual item are features of the Service, not property or currency. They have no monetary value, cannot be sold, transferred, or redeemed, and may be changed, rebalanced, or removed at any time. Rarity, point values, and place data (including which places are stampable) will change over time as the world and our data change.

5. Your content

What you keep. You own the photos, profile picture, display name, and other content you submit (“Your Content”).

What you let us do. So we can run the Service, you grant Trevel a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, resize, reproduce, and display Your Content, and to make it available to other users according to your visibility settings, for as long as it remains on the Service. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except that (a) copies may persist briefly in backups, and (b) content another user has already shared outside the Service (for example, a share card they saved) is beyond our control.

Share cards. When you use a share feature, the resulting image is created on your device and shared by you through your phone’s share sheet. What you share, and with whom, is up to you.

Your promises. You confirm that you have the rights to Your Content and that it does not infringe anyone’s rights or violate section 6.

Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.

6. Community rules

Do not use the Service to:

• harass, threaten, bully, or abuse anyone;
• post content that is sexually explicit, depicts minors inappropriately, is hateful, or promotes violence;
• impersonate any person or organization, or claim a username to deceive;
• post other people’s personal information without their consent;
• send spam or use the Service for unauthorized commercial purposes;
• upload malware or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users’ accounts;
• do anything unlawful.

Reporting and blocking. Every profile and photo has a report option, and you can block any user. Blocking is mutual — neither of you will see the other. Reports go to a review queue; we may remove content, warn, suspend, or terminate accounts, and we may act without notice when we believe it is necessary. We may also report unlawful content to authorities. We do not review everything and are not responsible for content posted by other users.

7. Travel safety and place data

Trevel is a scorekeeper, not a guide. You are responsible for your own safety and for obeying the law wherever you are. Never stamp while driving or in a way that distracts you from your surroundings. A place appearing in Trevel does not mean it is open, safe, or legal to enter; do not trespass, ignore closures, or take risks to earn a stamp. Place names, boundaries, and country assignments come from open data sources and are shown for gameplay; they do not express any position by Trevel on the status of any territory, border, or name. We do not guarantee that place data is complete or accurate.

8. Third-party services

The Service uses third-party services including Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Attest, push notifications), Google (Sign-In), Mapbox (maps), Cloudflare (storage and bot protection), Supabase, Fly.io, Expo, PostHog, and Sentry. Your use of maps is also subject to Mapbox’s terms and privacy policy. Map and place data incorporates open data from OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL), Natural Earth, Wikidata, GeoNames, and OurAirports; attributions are shown in the app.

9. Beta and pre-release versions

If you use Trevel through TestFlight, an internal test, or any version marked beta, you understand that it may be unstable, that features and data (including stamps and points) may be changed, reset, or lost, and that we may end the beta at any time. Do not rely on a beta version.

10. Changes to the Service and these Terms

We are a small team building quickly. We may add, change, or remove features, place data, scoring, and content at any time, and may suspend or discontinue the Service. We may update these Terms; when changes are material we will give notice in the app or by email before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and delete your account.

11. Ending your relationship with Trevel

You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account in Settings, which permanently removes your data as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, create risk or legal exposure for us, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive (including 4, 5, 12–16) survive termination.

12. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT LOCATION DETECTION, PLACE DATA, MAPS, OR SCORING WILL BE ACCURATE, OR THAT YOUR DATA WILL NOT BE LOST. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THESE EXCLUSIONS, SO SOME MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

13. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TREVEL AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE, YOUR TRAVEL, OR THESE TERMS — INCLUDING PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE OCCURRING WHILE YOU TRAVEL TO OR VISIT ANY PLACE — WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER THEORY, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AND (B) US $50. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THESE LIMITATIONS, SO SOME MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

14. Indemnity

You will defend and hold harmless Trevel and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from Your Content, your use of the Service, your travel, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at support@trevel.app and try in good faith to resolve the dispute for 30 days. Any dispute not resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to their jurisdiction, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction, and you may bring an individual claim in small-claims court where you live. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, YOU AND TREVEL EACH WAIVE THE RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL AND TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION. If you live in a jurisdiction whose consumer law gives you additional rights or a different forum, nothing here takes them away.

16. Copyright complaints

If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice with the information required by the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act to copyright@trevel.app or to our mailing address below, and we will respond appropriately, including removing the content and, for repeat infringers, terminating accounts.

17. Apple-specific terms

If you downloaded the app from Apple’s App Store: these Terms are between you and Trevel only, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Trevel, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product-liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer-protection or similar claims, and for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual-property rights. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated a “terrorist supporting” country, and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must comply with applicable third-party terms (for example, your wireless data agreement). Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

18. General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Trevel about the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Notices to you may be given in the app or to your account email. “Trevel” and the Trevel logo are trademarks of Trevel Technologies, Inc.
